Do people want a remake of Piranha Bytes' 2001 fantasy RPG Gothic? Maybe, series owners THQ Nordic think, so they've made a prototype of a remake and last night gave it to fans to see what they think. This prototype looks all shiny and new, obviously, while also modernising other parts of the old formula. The company say that if people like this wee teaser, they'll go ahead with remaking the whole thing. If not, they won't. The prototype is available now to anyone who owns a Piranha Bytes game on Steam.
You can download the Gothic Playable Teaser on Steam if you have a Piranha Bytes game (Gothic 1-3, Risen 1-3, or Elex) on your account. That lets people play around in the Mining Colony of Khorinis opening bit for two hours.
The narrative revolves around the demi-god Dagoth Ur, who aims to break Morrowind free from Imperial reign. The open-world is unlike any other fantasy setting, as the giant mushrooms and ominous fauna result in an alien planet-like feel. The combat may feel pretty dated today, but the freeform exploration, quests and game design are still worth experiencing.
As ever, there's a little bit of admin and housekeeping involved if you want to download the Witcher 3 next-gen update on any of those machines. And it's worth noting that, even if you're playing on an older system like the PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch, your game should still receive an update today (it just won't be quite as powerful as the ones on the new hardware).
And so, keep on reading and we'll tell you how to download the Witcher 3 next-gen update, and we'll show you how to make sure you're playing the right version when you jump back into Geralt's greatest game to date. Only time will tell if The Witcher 4 can top it!
If you've never bought The Witcher 3 on Xbox before, you can buy the game directly from the Microsoft Store. If you're playing on an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S, your console will automatically download the enhanced version when you install the game. You'll notice that it says 'Enhanced for Xbox Series X/S' on the product page.
Note: consoles sometimes download updates when we're not looking, especially if you leave them on in the background, so it might have been installed already! On the same 'Manage game and add-ons' menu that we just told you how to get to, you can also click on 'File' - this will give you some update history, including the date of when your latest update was installed for this game. If it's 14th December, you already have the next-gen update installed.
If you've never bought The Witcher 3 on PC before, you can buy the game from Steam at this link. Before you play it for the first time, Steam should force you to download the latest update, which will bring all the next-gen features into the game.
As the press release reads, this free playable prototype will give you an idea of what a new Gothic could look and feel like. PC gamers can play the yet-untitled Gothic Remake project and roam around the Mining Colony of Khorinis.
We may have multiple downloads for few games when different versions are available. Also, we try to upload manuals and extra documentation when possible. If you have additional files to contribute or have the game in another language, please contact us!

Two months down, and plenty of 2023 games still ahead. In March, we're closing out the year's first quarter with eagerly awaited games like Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, while we're due for remakes of some cherished favorites later in the month with Resident Evil 4, Last of Us Part 1, and System Shock. We only pick up pace from here, with some fresh Star Wars adventures in April and plenty of vampire vanquishing when Redfall hits in May.
Here are some of the heavy hitters arriving this month: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty takes RPG action to Imperial China, Leon Kennedy spin-kicks back into the spotlight in the Resident Evil 4 remake, and it's gruff surrogate dad season in Last of Us Part 1. Check out all the other games launching this month further down the page in the new games of March section.
The Chronicles Of Myrtana: Archolos is a free, total conversion mod for Gothic II: Gold Edition. It features a completely new open world, improved skills systems, gameplay mechanics and complex story.
Thank you for your advice! We have used the Easy Gothic Mod Translator to translate some English words to Chinese. The question is the Chinese words can not be showed correctly. What should we do to make the game recognize our Chinese words and display them correctly? We have checked the gothic.ini file carefully but got nothing.
This is a great MOD of GOTHIC II, I want to translate it to Chinese to introduce this amazing work to Chinese players. However, I found it is diffcult to complete the translation work, since the game can not show our Chinese words correctly after I translate some words from English to Chinese. I wonder is there any way to add a new language into the game (perhaps in the gothic.ini, I don't know?)
Thankfully, there are plenty of free horror games that can be played through Steam, independent platforms, and even web browsers, meaning that players don't need to splash the cash in order to fill the gap. Just like any other genre, free-to-play horror games can vary quite a bit in quality, but there are quite a few that are worth checking out at the very least.
Updated on January 23rd, 2023 by Russ Boswell: The Resident Evil series continues to crank out titles for its long-running franchise, with the latest first-person offerings bringing the beloved franchise back to its roots. Dedicated fans have an upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake to look forward to, but there isn't much information on the horizon about what's next for the franchise. To keep horror fanatics entertained, here's an expanded look at some of the best free horror games available right now. The following list has been updated with even more entries.
Many of the free-to-play games featured on this list offer lengthy experiences, but there are some short and sweet Horror gems out there that fans should experience. One great example is September 1999. This free game is micro-sized, lasting only approximately 5 minutes and 30 seconds, but it's tense and gripping enough to make a lasting impression on most players. Shot in a "found footage" style, this free Horror release is great for a quick fright.
Five Nights At Freddy's did a fantastic job of ushering in a new era of creepy games inspired by a fear of animatronics. There have been a few notable knock-offs that took the FNAF formula and ran with it, but Poppy Playtime subverts the core gameplay a bit by offering players an explorative experience filled with tense moments and puzzle-solving mechanics. Rather than being rooted in a single location, players are free to explore (although the designated path can be a bit linear). This ups the scare-factor significantly as players find themselves running for their lives from a seemingly innocent toy mascot that is much more sinister than he looks. 041b061a72
