How to Root and Update WM8850 W70 V12 Hynix Tablet
If you have a WM8850 W70 V12 Hynix tablet, you may want to root it and update it to the latest firmware. Rooting your tablet can give you more control over your device, such as installing custom ROMs, removing bloatware, and accessing root-only apps. Updating your tablet can improve its performance, stability, and security.
However, rooting and updating your tablet can also be risky, as you may lose your data, void your warranty, or even brick your device if you use the wrong firmware or method. Therefore, you should always backup your data before proceeding, and follow the instructions carefully.
In this article, we will show you how to root and update your WM8850 W70 V12 Hynix tablet using two different methods: firmware update method and RootBurner method. Both methods require a micro SD card and a computer.
Firmware Update Method
This method is the easiest, but it will erase all your data and settings on your tablet. You will need to reinstall your apps and games after the update. This method will install the W70 v1.10 firmware from Eken website, which is compatible with your tablet and comes already rooted.
Download W70-1.1.0â2012-08-15.rar from Eken website[^5^].
Uncompress the archive and copy wmt_scriptcmd script and FirmwareInstall directory to a micro SD card (it does not need to be blank and you can have your other files there).
Insert the micro SD card into your tablet and turn it off.
Press and hold the volume up button and then press the power button to turn on your tablet.
Wait for the update process to finish. It may take several minutes.
When the update is done, your tablet will reboot automatically.
Enjoy your rooted and updated tablet!
This method is more advanced, but it will preserve your data and settings on your tablet. You will not need to reinstall your apps and games after the update. This method will use a tool called RootBurner to root your tablet and install a custom recovery.
Download RootBurner v0.3 from XDA Developers forum.
Uncompress the archive and run RootBurner.exe on your computer.
Connect your tablet to your computer via USB cable. Make sure USB debugging is enabled on your tablet (Settings > Developer options > USB debugging).
Select wm8850_w70_v12_hynix.fwc file from the FirmwareConfig folder in RootBurner.
Select CWM Recovery 22.214.171.124 for WM8850 by Finless from the CWM Recovery folder in RootBurner.
Select SU-Busybox-Installer.zip from the SU-Busybox-Installer folder in RootBurner.
Select Burn Firmware Config File, Burn CWM Recovery Image File, and Burn SU-Busybox Installer Zip File options in RootBurner.
Click Burn It! button in RootBurner.
Wait for the rooting process to finish. It may take several minutes.
Your tablet will reboot automatically into CWM recovery mode.
